Dr. Rathore is currently the Acting Chief of the AIDS Research Review Branch (ARRB) within the Scientific Review Program of NIAID. He has 10+ years of experience in managing scientific peer review of research grant applications, cooperative agreements, and R&D contracts at the NIH. Each year, ARRB manages the peer review of grant applications and contract proposals received in response to 18-20 HIV and HIV-related funding opportunity announcements. As a Scientific Review Officer, Dr. Rathore has managed the peer review for a large breadth of funding instruments involving multi-project (UM1, U19, P01, P30 etc.) and single project (R01, U01, R34, G11, R24, etc.) initiatives for basic and translational research centers, complex Consortia/Networks/Leadership Groups, Clinical Trial Units, and Implementation Science research. The research funded through these initiatives have made path-breaking discoveries in the areas of HIV treatment, prevention, and vaccine efforts. Before joining the Scientific Review Program, Dr. Rathore was an Assistant Professor for five years at the Biocomplexity Institute of Virginia Tech. in Blacksburg, VA.
