Melinda Nelson has over 41 years of NIH service in the extramural grants administration field, starting in the Center for Scientific Review as a Grants Technical Assistant, as a Grants Manager, as the Chief Grants Management Officer for the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) for over 20 years and currently as the Director of Extramural Operations at the NIAMS which oversees grants, review, and clinical trials management. Ms. Nelson earned her B.S. in Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland. She is a leader in training and professional development endeavors for NIH extramural staff and is a member of the International Society of Research Administrators.
