Dr. Peter Jackson is Chief, AIDS Research Review Branch (ARRB), Scientific Review Program (SRP), DEA, NIAID. He works on policies and procedures for developing, submitting and reviewing grant applications and contract proposals. The goal is to identify the most meritorious submissions to advance basic through clinical research and training in HIV AIDS, all other infectious diseases, and immunology, allergy, asthma, autoimmunity and transplantation. SRP annually evaluates submissions requesting $4 to $11 billion Total Direct Costs. He is on detail in the NIAID Office of Global Research (OGR) to assist in the dissemination of information about NIAID international research activities. Dr. Jackson’s international experiences include an Embassy Science Fellowship in Croatia and NIAID Grantsmanship presentations in North and South America, Europe, Africa, India and Asia. Dr. Jackson has a PhD from Rice University and held post-doctoral positions at the University of Massachusetts, and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. He joined the American Institute of Biological Sciences to manage the submission and peer review of USAID-funded malaria vaccine research grant applications and joined the NIH/NIAID in 1990.
