1:1 Meet the Experts Sign Up

Welcome to the Official Sign-Up to Meet NIH/HHS Experts for a 20-Minute Chat.

During the 2-Day Seminar, you will have the opportunity to meet with NIH and HHS experts during 1:1 time slots that meet your schedule.

Types of NIH Experts:

  • Contract Management: Contracting officers (COs) are Government employees that are authorized to execute contractual agreements on behalf of the Federal Government.
  • Grants Management(GM): GM Specialists and GM Officers are the focal points for all business and policy activities, overseeing the business and other non-programmatic aspects of grants, including evaluating grant applications for administrative content and compliance with statutes, regulations, and guidelines; negotiating grants; providing consultation and technical assistance to grantees; and administering grants after award.
  • Policy: These individuals are involved in activities at NIH related to policy development and/or the communication of policies related to the NIH grants process.
  • Program: Program Officials or Officers (POs) have the official responsible for the programmatic, scientific, and/or technical aspects of a grant. Program Officers administer grant portfolios, set scientific priorities, advise investigators, and act as an advocate for a science area. A program is a coherent assembly of plans, project activities, and supporting resources contained within an administrative framework, the purpose of which is to implement an organization’s mission or some specific program-related aspect of that mission.
  • Review: Scientific Review Officers (SROs) serve as the designated Federal officials having legal responsibility for managing the peer review meeting, and managing the procedures for evaluating the applications assigned to the Scientific Review Group, which is charged with giving expert advice on the scientific and technical merit of the applications.
  • eRA Systems: Staff experts on electronic application preparation and submission, as well as the eRA Commons website and other eRA Modules. These staff members will be available at the eRA Booth throughout the two-day seminar.

I can offer help with determining NIEHS mission-relevance for proposed projects and pointing people to the right Program Officers to contact at NIEHS. I can also point people in the right direction for training and fellowships at NIEHS--note, I do not administer these. If anyone is interested in our Experiences for Summer Students and Teachers supplement program, I am happy to provide information.
