Dr. Silda Nikaj is a Labor Economist with the Division of Biomedical Research Workforce. Her current work examines the outcomes of early-career investigators including NIH peer review, mentored research, and the diversity of the NIH participating and funded workforce. While at NIH she has advised the NIH on changes related to 21st Century Cures Act, NIH Peer Review, and NRSA programs. Prior to joining the NIH, her research focused on government expenditures and taxation. Her work in public economics examined the impact of government policy on the fiscal outcomes of government entities. Her research in health economics investigated the role of public policy in curbing tobacco use and examined correlates of obesity and alcohol use among youths. Her work has been published in high impact economics and policy journals.
