Dr. Lakshmi Ramachandra is a Program Officer (PO) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in the Division of Allergy, Immunology and Transplantation (DAIT). As part of her work, she manages a portfolio of basic immunology grants as well as the Cooperative Centers on Human Immunology. She also identifies scientific gaps in research and helps write initiatives (e.g. Request for Applications (RFAs)) to address these gaps. Before joining DAIT, Dr. Ramachandra worked as a Scientific Review Officer (SRO) at the NIAID, where she organized and managed peer review meetings. Prior to joining NIAID, she was an Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Ramachandra received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. She then joined the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Washington in Seattle as a postdoctoral fellow and subsequently worked at Case Western Reserve University as a Research Associate.
Dr. Ramachandra grew up in Ghana, West Africa and loves to travel.
